SPEAKER_00

You're watching The Last Stand with Brian Custer. That's right. It is the last stand. I'm Brian Custer. We bring you the biggest names in the sport. Joining me today is Young Man making his debut on the show. And when you want to talk about lightweight, 135 pounds, this kid is electric. He is, without a doubt, the young star in that division. Unbeaten. 19 victories. 13 have come by knockouts. He's got speed. He's got power. You know him as Kid Austin. Floyd Schofield joins us on the last stand. Floyd making his debut. How are you, young man?

SPEAKER_01

I'm great. I'm great. Just another day of living.

SPEAKER_00

Listen, yeah, I know it's been nearly a year since we have seen you, last seen you in the uh in the ring when you took out Tevin Farmer. Um why has it been so long since we've gotten a chance to see Kid Austin back in the ring?

SPEAKER_01

I'm not gonna lie. Uh after that Tevin Farmer fight, you know, I kind of enjoyed the the little ride of how everything was going. Uh had my birthday. Then I started like getting in the camp around, I want to say September for Jojo Diaz. Then I had sustained a hand injury and sparring. And that's what like kept me out so so long, making sure my hand was, you know, perfect. Because you know, with me, I like to hit hard in training. Sparring, I'm hitting hard. So it was kind of weird trying to get back into that groove to make sure my hand was cool. And then I was supposed to fight in April. Um, if people were on Twitter, it was you know supposed to be Fonseca, but that fight fell through. Now I'm waiting for another fight date, which we got one. I don't know if I can say it yet.

SPEAKER_00

Sure you can listen. This is the last stand. That's what we do on the last stand, not the mother places, but on the last stand. You can give us the what's the date?

SPEAKER_01

August 21st is the date we're aiming for. August 21st.

SPEAKER_00

August 21st. Okay, now. Um at some point, there was talk of Kid Austin and Tank Davis being his return. Uh, and they were looking at late August, uh, even early September. What happened there?

SPEAKER_01

I'm not sure. You know, my dad, he's the one who handles the managing the management stuff along with Oscar. So I don't know usually what they're talking talking about because I just like to fight. You know, I'm a dad, I got to deal with that, and I got to deal with training. So I kind of stay out of that. But I've been trying to tell my dad to keep pushing for the fight because I think that fight right there, it gives me the respect that I deserve. Win, loser, draw, which I'm not gonna lose that fight. I'm not going in to lose, but I think no matter the outcome, I think that gains me the respect that I need in the sport.

SPEAKER_00

So August then 21st, who who are you looking at?

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, I was looking at Lucas Body, you know, possibly for the title. Um, then if not Lucas, I want Gary Russell because I seen his interviews and stuff. I just I want Gary Russell before I go to 140. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Uh give me give me the message then to Javante Davis that Floyd Schofield has for him.

SPEAKER_01

Let's fight. I mean, you need a fight. I need a fight. I think it would be a great fight for the fans. I know it would be a great fight for the fans because we're we would both come in there to do our do our best. So I think it would be a great fight. Um, not just for us, but for everybody in the sport that loves like that original OG boxing, you know.

SPEAKER_00

What did you think about uh your promoter, Oscar De La Jolla? They were asking him about that, and he said, listen, if it was up to me, I would prefer kid have a fight first, then go into the tank fight, not go directly into it. But if that's what he and his father wants, then it's my job to try to make that happen. What would you prefer?

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, give me the fight now. Like, just I'm gonna ask you a young guy comes in, defeats Tank Davis, hasn't fought in a year. In your opinion, would that make it like much better than having a tune-up fight and then possibly possibly having two tune-up fights? Because that's what I heard. And then it's like, okay, well, Tank, you know, he was off for a bit. I feel like people would make excuses, but I haven't fought just as long as Tank. I feel like it would make the the victory much sweeter, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Um Keyshawn Davis put on social media, tell Kid Austin he can be nest. Next, call my manager Jay Prince. Your thoughts.

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, I don't know what his uh his problem was, I should say, you know, to call me out, but I definitely accept the challenge. I mean, I'm not gonna go out my way. You want the fight. I'm not going out my way to contact your manager. If you really want that fight, you can get in contact with us. That's your manager, that's not my manager. So if he really wants that fight, you know, I feel like fighters, they like to use that term, call my manager, knowing dang well I have no way to call your manager. Like, like that's your manager. You want that fight? Let's put the fight on. So that's a fight I want. And like people say he's having weight problems. I don't care. We can have a catch weight at 144 if that's the case. But like I said, you know, in the humble version, I let my dad and Oscar handle that stuff.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah. Well, tell me, what is it about Keyshawn Davis that uh where is the beef? Where did that come from? How did it start?

SPEAKER_01

I don't there's no beef. Like, honestly, I don't have beef with nobody in boxing. Like, I feel like a lot of people have their egos involved when someone challenges them because they're like, oh wait, who's just gotta challenge me? And it's not like that. It's like, how am I gonna be great? How am I gonna feed my family? If you're one of the so-called fighters to become great, if I don't fight you, like, I mean, I I don't I don't gain nothing from fighting. Well, let me put this the right way, because I don't want to insult anybody. Let's just say someone ranked in the top 15. If I go fight them and I'm missing out on a chance of fighting you, that's kind of like I wouldn't say messing up my resume, but I'm not gaining gaining anything from that. And I just think fighters, they just have to put their egos behind them and like, let's fight. We lose, we lose. That's that's the name of the game. I mean, you get knocked down, you get knocked out, you get up and try again. And um, I feel like a lot of fighters don't want to face that. But I don't care. I want the best fights.

SPEAKER_00

Now, I I I know he made a lot of news when we had him on the last stand. And one of the things that certainly went viral was when he said that he would knock Javante Davis out if they fought. Uh, I know you saw his last performance. Uh, give me your thoughts on Keyshawn Davis as a fighter.

SPEAKER_01

I think Keishon is a very skillful fighter. I think he has the potential to be a great, a Bosch and great. Um, I just think his last performance was mediocre. People are saying that he showed a lot of stuff, but I'm like, this isn't a Keyshawn we haven't seen before. I mean, it's the pretty much the same Keyshawn. He gets frustrated. He likes to do dirty tactics. Um I do like how he shows he does have dog in him. I think that's the one thing we could say about Keishon. Um, but I just think it was just another regular Keyshawn performance. I think he looked way sharper, way better uh with Jermaine Ortiz. And no disrespect to Albright, but I feel like Jermaine Ortiz is like levels above an Albright. So if if if I'm going to judge, I think he had a setback this fight. He looked, and anybody can agree, he looked way better against Ortiz. But it's no disrespect to Keyshawn, he got the job done. Not every fight is meant to look good. I mean, there's fights in there where you gotta get down and dirty and just thug it out, and I feel like he did what he was supposed to do.

SPEAKER_00

How would how would a a Keyshawn Davis Floyd Schofield fight play out in the ring?

SPEAKER_01

Oh no disrespect to Keyshawn, but I believe it ends in a stoppage. I mean, because I'm not outright. I'm not I'm not going for the you know, pushing my head up with the elbow, throwing me on the ground like that. I mean, if that happens, you met your match. So that's all I'm gonna say.

SPEAKER_00

I just think it comes out with me be me being victorious, so there would be a lot of people who would say, if if you you fought Tank Davis, oh, I love Kid Austin, but it's too soon. Don't get don't do this fight right now. Wait and take it a little bit later. What what how how would uh right now a a Kid Austin Javante Davis fight play out?

SPEAKER_01

Same thing, me being victorious, and I do get that a lot. I'm not even gonna lie, I got that from my friends too. You know, my friends, they don't, they don't, they tell me how it is. If I'm messing up, I'm messing up. If they think like, you know, I'm bullcrapping around, they're gonna let me know. But they were like, yo, are you sure you want to take that fight? Like, because they're not really into boxing, my friends, like into basketball and stuff. So they only see, you know, me and Tank Davis. Those are the only people they they really know about as far as boxing. So they see Tank and they're like, man, like, I don't know about this one. Like, you might want to like get a more couple fights in. But I'm like, at the end of the day, like, it's my career. I want to be great. I'm not trying to wait till I'm, you know, I hear people saying 28, 29. By that time, Tank is pushing 40. Like, I gained nothing from that. I want to win this fight when nobody thinks I have a chance to win. That just makes it even better. I mean, I have a family to provide for. I have my son and my daughter, like my dad, my brothers, friends. Like, I'm doing this for them. It's not just for me at the end of the day. So my legacy is their legacy. And I want to build that legacy for everyone. And I just think me accomplishing something like that right now would be major.

SPEAKER_00

What did you think when Tank, I guess, got on social media and said something to the fact that I'm a rattle or knock your head off, little buddy?

SPEAKER_01

It was his response to you. I get that a lot. I mean, if you do, you do. But you gotta earn it though. Angie's gonna let you do it. I mean, you see, he said that with Lamont Roach. I mean, Lamont Roach is a 130 fighter. Or he was campaigning at 130. I mean, you just gotta come earn it. I'm not the one to be talking online. Like, that's corny to me. Like, if you're gonna do it, just do it. Except the fight. That's how we're gonna find out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's a great point. Uh Loma says he's returning, says he only wants big fights. Uh, I I I saw I saw you put something on social media and you were making a point to Loma. Tell me, give tell the people what was the point you were trying to make.

SPEAKER_01

It was just like, because I seen that he wanted the Navarate fight or the tank fight. It's his comeback fight, which is great. You know, Loma's a great fighter going down in the Hall of Fame, in my opinion. Um, but it's like, nah, you gotta wait your turn on a tank fight. You can go have the Navarate fight. But on the tank fight, like, it's it's my my time. I've been waiting for a year and a half. Number one. Um, it's only right. Like, how are my peers, like Xander is already unified? You know, Xander's my boy. Mason has a title going to fight Joe Cordina, and I'm up there with them, but yet I still haven't got a chance to fight for that title because someone wants to hold it up. And no disrespect to Tank, but it's like, it's not even someone that's going through like hand injuries or, you know, just something dealing with their health or you know, something like that as far as boxing. It's stuff he's doing outside of the ring, you know, as far as being undisciplined. So now I have to wait on the the back burner because this guy is messing up outside the ring. I think it's unfair.

SPEAKER_00

So um, two years ago, you're talking about fighting for the title. Hey, look, you were supposed to fight Shakur Stevenson, and you come down with that. Tell me what happened there? What happened, young fella?

SPEAKER_01

Uh, look, I hate getting back into that, but you my guy. I get it.

SPEAKER_00

I appreciate it.

SPEAKER_01

So, long story short, a lot of people they like to say I was faking, I was playing dead or whatever the case may be. Mind you. And this is what I like to go, because I feel like fathers and men would understand. I had had that pretty rough performance. I wouldn't say rough, but towards the end it was rough with Garonne. Um, it's because I was doing stuff outside the ring. I had just become a new dad. I didn't know if I was like worthy of being a dad. So after that fight, I started just like pouring into my son, being there for my son. So my dad presents the basically presents the fight to me, like, yo, do you want to take this fight? I'm like, yeah, let's take this fight. Long story short, we go to Florida, stuff is happening there, not gonna get into that. Three months, three, three and a half months, I'm away from my newborn son. The most precious time you can get with your your child. And we get to Saudi. So now we get to Saudi. I have the mindset, I'm ready to fight. After I got off a 16, 17-hour flight, I did five miles on the treadmill in the hotel room. Mind you, average person, they're going to sleep. I was just so pumped up for that fight. I was on weight, you know, as far as the WBC, um, they have like this little weight thing that you have to do, like to make sure your weight cuts being safe. I'm on weight, everything. So I think it's two days or a day. I think it's two or day, two days or a day before the weigh-in. I go downstairs to um basically just to jog some, you know, sweat, get a little workout in. And like all of a sudden, I tell my dad, like, I feel like I'm floating. Like, it literally felt like I was levitating. Like, when I would walk, it felt like I was gliding against the floor. Um, and my dad, he was like, What do you mean? Like, stop playing, like that's nothing to be, you know, playing about. And I was like, no, like I really don't feel like you know, working out today. And then he was like, All right, you're already, you're already close to your weight, you just go upstairs, relax. So he goes downstairs to get a workout, and then my cut man and Joan Guzman, they're in a hotel room with me making sure I'm good and stuff. Long story short, next thing you know, I'm tripping out. Like, I'm like giving everyone compliments, like I'm happy, like it was, it was like it was up and down. And I I I'm saying that because you know, I hate to get back into it, but I gotta speak the facts. There were like some stuff in my system that wasn't supposed to be in my system, and um, we got the toxicology reports and everything, and like I can tell you like afterwards, but you know what I'm trying to insinuate.

SPEAKER_00

Like, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You think somebody did some Yeah, and so that happened, and then after that, it was like when I actually came to in the ICU unit or whatever, like I just broke down like in tears because like it's like I I was on that I was on that high. Then when I came crashing down, it was just like terrible. And then I asked my dad, like, let me see my like let me see my phone. He wouldn't give me my phone because he already knew like I was getting bashed on Twitter and stuff. Like, yeah, right. I could see him scrolling on Twitter, I can see his face, and I'm like, let me see my phone. And he's like telling me, like, nah, get your sleep, relax. You could get your phone in the morning. So next day comes, I go online. Oh my god, I'm like, bro. I was just so like depressed. Like after that, I was just like, I didn't want to box anymore after that. I got home, and when I got home, I got to see my son. My son got on a flight back from California. When I seen him, it was just like the biggest letdown. Because it's like I actually got to fight for my first million dollar payday, a chance at the world title, and to me, it wasn't my fault, but I was just blaming myself. I was like, I blew it. Um, and I was just like, that was just like a very depressed moment. And I think that's probably the only fighter I have beef with is Shakur. Not saying that it was his fault or he had anything to do with it, it's just the fact that him as a fighter, like laughing about the situation and all this other stuff when I could have lost my life, you know, my son could have grew up without a father from that situation. So um, it was just I think a learning lesson.

SPEAKER_00

Learning lesson just to what was it the food? What do you think?

SPEAKER_01

How do you think not because I wasn't I wasn't eating that day because I like I usually don't eat a day before the weigh-ins. I was just drinking my water, like waterloaded. Then after that, like I just felt, excuse my language, I just felt like shit. Yeah. So it was it's pretty bad. But I ended up recovering from that. You know, I got to spend time with my my family, and you know, they let me know that it's not my fault. And they're like, I'm young, there'll be more million-dollar paydays, right? More world titles, but I feel like that was just the biggest letdown because I had nothing to lose. Yeah, I had the whole, damn near the whole boxing world saying I was gonna lose, I was gonna get stopped, I had nothing to lose. So I just had everything to gain. So when people say like, oh, you ducked, you pulled out, why? I had this many months away from my child. Flew across the flew across the world. If I was gonna pull out, I could have faked the injury in camp. Yeah, you know, I didn't want to fight uh uh my shoulder. I did something to my shoulder and sparring. Like, so people were just like crazy when they were accusing me of that because like I said, I hadn't I had everything to win. I had nothing to lose. If I lost, people were gonna be like, well, he's young.

SPEAKER_00

So I know I know Shakur. Whenever someone brings you up to Shakur, he always shuts it right down. Like, I don't even want to talk about this guy. In fact, the latest comment he said, man, he's a punk. Don't even mention his name to me. Do you do you think you'll ever get the Shakur fight again?

SPEAKER_01

Hopefully. I got I got a bone to pick with him. I'm not gonna lie. Because I do be seeing his comments when he says, but I'm like, if I was such a punk, at 17, I came down to Houston to spar you in your gym. Just me, me, my dad, I think it was my guy Curtis Meeks, and one other one other of my dad's friends, just us coming to your gym to spar. I do my thing. First thing he says when I get out the ring, he's like, man, what wait you fight at? You got power. Invites me back to another campus. But it's like, if I was such a punk, why invite me back to your camps? Why invite me to be your sparring partner? So I feel like it's just stuff he says is weird.

SPEAKER_00

Um obviously, you had the incident with Jojo Diaz when you you hurt your hand, and then all of a sudden you talk about people on social media, they always say, Well, well, when it comes to Schofield though, he's gonna pull out. If it's a big fight, he's gonna pull out. How has that affected you? That that rap, so so to speak, that they people have tried to throw on you. How is that?

SPEAKER_01

It hasn't affected me at all, to be honest. And I like I think that's another thing. After that Shakur situation, it's like nothing could get to me. After reading the comments I read, I'm like, can't nothing get to me no more. I've heard it all. Um, but people, they gotta look at the facts. If you want to say the three fights I pulled out of, let's just say the three fights. First fight was Ashton, I believe Ashton H2O, um, when he fought body, had a torsion. You know, that's when your testicles wrap around each other, had to get surgery, they had to cut it open, unwrap them. So I was in bed for five to six weeks. So you can't, you can't really even walk like the first three weeks, you know, because you gotta got that, you gotta be in a diaper practically. Um yeah, so you can't even fight with that. The Shakur fight. Everybody has their opinion on that. I already gave my what happened on that fight. You choose to take it how you want to take it. The JoJo fight, it's a common injury. Fighters injure their hands. I mean, we work with our hands 24-7. Every day, we're hitting something if we're in the gym every day, but most of the time we're hitting something all the time. You know, working on our power, working on our speed. So it's likely to injure your hand and sparring. I mean, Shakur did the same thing when he was supposed to have a big fight with Cordina, I believe. I mean, you could go down the laundry list uh of people who are in their hands and sparring. And then no offense to Jojo, but JoJo isn't the type of fighter to fear. I mean, that's it's not like it's JoJo who fought Tevin or JoJo back in the day who fought Gary Russell. I mean, this is you know no disrespect, but over the hill JoJo from what we've seen in his last performance. So, I mean, you just gotta look at the facts. Like, it's not like I pulled out the Tevin Farmer fight. He's a bigger fight than Ashen and Jojo.

SPEAKER_00

Did Golden Boy at all, did they like anyone like from Oscar say, Hey, look, you know, this is starting to become something we we're becoming a little concerned about. Did they express any of that?

SPEAKER_01

No, they're always there by my side, and that's the one. Thing I love about Oscar, he understands this is the fighting business. Things happen. Like we can't control it. Only the man above he controls everything and every outcome that happens. So if it was meant for my hand to be hurt, it was meant for my hand to be hurt. I had no control over it. I just threw an uppercut at the wrong angle at you know when the dude at the top of his head. So and it happened. So not Golden Boy has never even that's never even came out of their mouths. They're just always supportive of everything.

SPEAKER_00

So that's cool. Uh talk to me about uh another, you know. I obviously you talked about your core and the beef, but uh one beef that you've had with is Devin Haney. When did it start? I mean, I know you guys sparred a long time ago, uh, and it it just gotten too like you know, your dad's getting into it. What how did all of that begin?

SPEAKER_01

Look, like I said, I have no beef with nobody. This is the fighting business. Like, we're daring to be great against each other. I just had I just got off on you in the sparring. So as an 18-year-old kid, I mean, what else do you do to blow up? You're gonna let everyone know what happened in the sparring session. And he knows it's true. That's why he never really he has the video. He never released the video. I mean, if we want to be frank, I mean, after my fight with Tevin, now Mason, we did four rounds. I don't know why they posted the round that he he did better in, but we did four rounds. But at least they posted one round of him, you know, doing, I guess, his his thing. Devin didn't do that. So it was like, I guess when I said that, I guess his feelings got hurt. And it's no disrespect. I mean, he blew up off of being with Mayweather and his sparring tapes. Like, I'm copying the blueprint. I'm a young kid trying to make it too. So I feel like he just took it, he just took it how he took it.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, you don't see And what what happened?

SPEAKER_01

And what happened? I just feel like I got off in the sparring. Um, I think he was underestimating me. You know, I was there young kid. I feel like I was being a little too nice, you know. I'm I'm mean Devin Haney, the WBC champ. Like, this is cool. Like, this is my first time. I think, yeah, it was my first time because I went with him before Shakur. It's my first time being around a world-class fighter, you know, one that's active. So I was like, this is pretty cool. So they're probably looking at me like, oh, this kid is fooled. Like, but when that bell rang, it's like, I'm here to do a job. You called me to come spar you. Like, I'm here to do my job at the end of the day, and I feel like they weren't ready for that. You know, the whole gym was quiet. Bill was there. I mean, you could hear like his little entourage in the back. I remember the guy named Church, you know, getting loud. Bill like had to throw the hand up, like everybody, you know, be quiet for a second. But it's just with me, it's all love. I look up to these guys. Well, not even more, but I used to look up to these guys. I wanted to be like these guys, you know, seeing the money, you know, the cars, the titles, like that's what I wanted. And I'm just doing the same thing y'all doing. I mean, there's so many interviews of them talking about what happened in their sparring, but when I do it, I'm the bad guy. Or fans want to be like, oh, he's capping. But when they're doing it, it's like, okay, maybe, you know, maybe Shakur did get off on Javante. It's just backwards. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um let's talk real quickly about some, some things that are coming up. Xander versus Boots. Who what do you think about that fight?

SPEAKER_01

I got Xander. You know, like I said, that's my guy. We've been around each other forever since we were like 11, 12. We grew up with each other. So I'm gonna I'm gonna rock with my boy Xander. I think he has a skill set to, you know, I know he's the champion, but I think he's gonna pull off the upset.

SPEAKER_00

What about the return of Errol Spence versus Tim Tzu?

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. Yeah, I know I gotta rock with the Texan, Errol Spence. I'm just a little nervous, you know. He has been off for a very long time. Um, and then, you know, people like to talk about his speech. Not like he was always a slow talker, but I don't know. I'm going with Spence. I know Spence can pull it off. I just hopefully everything, you know, up there is right, you know, especially after having those accidents. Then, you know, fighting Crawford not too long after that. So I just hope everything's 100% in his head. And um, I think if it is, then he definitely has everything to beat him.

SPEAKER_00

Lastly, give me some insight about you because reading up on you, talking about early childhood, it was rough. Uh, there was homelessness. Just give me give me some insight on Floyd Schofield and his upbringing.

SPEAKER_01

My upbringing, for me, in the beginning, you know, I wouldn't say it was rough, only because my dad, he did what he was supposed to do, you know, with my siblings. He made it like, he made it seem like we had everything when we literally had nothing. Like, I remember days where we would meet my brothers, all we had was like a bowl of fried chicken to eat. That's like all we had to eat. Um, we actually have video, like me and my brothers fighting over the chicken and stuff. So, like, he always, like, even during Christmas, he saved up everything. I remember, and this will always be with me. When the Xbox 360 came out, he got me an Xbox 360 and this Tom Clancy game and and NCAA. And now that like will always stick with me. He bought these like little blue DSs for each one of my brothers. Um, and he spent literally all he had. He also had his co-worker dress up as Santa, which I just recently learned. He had his co-worker dress up as Santa and come to the house with his wife dressed as Mrs. Claus, and like that forever, like that's my pops. You know, I'm I'm rocking with my pops, right or wrong. Um, but as I got older, you know, he was more strict on me. Once he found out like I can actually, I have the talent to box, that's when, you know, things changed. You know, growing up, I didn't really have a childhood after like the age of eight, once I had my first amateur fight. Like, then it was like, okay, I don't want to do this no more. I don't know why I put on these boxing gloves and showed them I got hands. I don't want to do this no more. But then I think around 12, 13, he had pulled me out of sixth grade to do homeschooling. That was the worst experience of my life, man. I lost my first girlfriend. Still remember her name too. It's crazy. Lost my first girlfriend. All my friends would be like, yo, Austin, why you're not coming to the football games? And I'm like, I gotta go to the gym and come home, do my homework. It was terrible, man. But around the age of like 17 or 16, I had broke this guy's jaw and sparring. And I like after I looked at everybody outside and like I seen their faces, and that just made me like, okay, I can actually do this. I'm if I just broke this grown man's jaw, like I can take this far. And then I was in front of the ladies too, so I was like, yeah, it was liking this. I was like, you know what?

SPEAKER_00

But um you're funny.

SPEAKER_01

My my upbringing was I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. Would I redo it? I don't know. Maybe if once I pass, maybe I get reincarnated, gotta do it over again. We'll see if I enjoy it. But as of now, I love what it does for you know my kids and my my family. I I I can say when I pass on, I did it. You know, my my family can won't have to work again. That's my goal, you know.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And once I do that, I feel like I created a a legacy for our last name. Then I know, you know, I did it. I'm done. I'm done. I don't I don't want nothing else in the world besides to know my family know I did it for them. That's all I care about.

SPEAKER_00

That's fantastic. Um, all right. Uh last question, Gary Russell Jr. is watching. What's the message, Gary Russell Jr.?

SPEAKER_01

Let's get it on, man. Let's get it on. If a body doesn't take this fight, or somehow I don't get to fight with Body or Tank, let's get it on. I mean, he's ranked in the top 10. It won't be none for the WBA to you know drop the belt with us. You know what I mean? So I like Gary Russell. Like my dad always tells me, like, I'm not gonna lie, when I seen that interview, I was like, man, I'm gonna go online and just talk. I'm gonna talk crazy. Cause who is he thinking he is coming like I'm some type of chunk? Because I'm not no punk. So I was like, and my dad's like, respect your elders. And I was like, Tom, I'm like, nah, nah, he's gonna be in the street. And my dad's like, he's still an elder. So I was like, you're right. I mean, at the end of the day, he's a boxer. He feels like he's great. I feel like I'm great. And that's where you know, my dad had to make me understand, like, he's just, you know, protecting his brand. So I was like, alright, true. So I just feel like let's get it on. I feel like it would be a great, a great fight for the fans. He's a great fighter, uh masterful fighter, amazing speed, amazing boxing IQ. And I feel like I get that name on my resume. That's another, I feel like that would be a fighter behind tank that would give me respect in boxing. You know, he still has the goods. I mean, seen his last fight, he still has the goods. And um, like my dad, like my dad said, respect my elders, but in that ring, it's no respect until after.

SPEAKER_00

But I like it. I like it. Listen, I've been wanting to do this for a while, man, and uh, I'm a big fan. I I think you got a phenomenal future ahead of you. Uh explosive, uh power, you've got the IQ, you got it all. And I just wish you nothing but health and success going forward. And let's do it again. Let's do it again after that big fight. Let's do it again, kid.
